MembershipNow you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. (1 Corinthians 12:27, NIV) Membership at First Presbyterian Church is open to all people who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Membership classes, known as inquirer's classes, are offered several times during the year. These classes include information on the history, heritage and governmental structure of the Presbyterian church. If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a member at First Presbyterian, please contact Pastor Eikenberry or the church office. Individuals may become official members of our church family in any one of three ways:
Benefits of church membership include opportunities to vote in church elections, to hold church office, and, most importantly, to be a part of a supportive, caring church family dedicated to Jesus Christ. However, everyone is welcome to worship and fellowship with us, whether or not formal church membership is desired. During the last two years, the Session has been updating the membership lists of the First Presbyterian Church per the following criteria: Active members are those who:
Active members are eligible to hold a church office, may vote at congregational meetings, and are counted as church members for the Per Capital assessment paid by the church to the presbytery. Inactive members are those who:
Inactive members do not vote at congregational meetings, may not serve as elders, deacons or trustees, are not counted as church members for the purposes of the Per Capita assessment, and have not joined another church. The Worship and Fellowship committee monitors and updates
the lists of active and inactive members and makes recommendations
to the Session for changes in the status of an individual's membership.
This is why t he churhc encourages the use of the attendance pads to
record member's participation in the work and worship of the church.
Questions about an individual's membership status should be directed
to the Worship and Fellowship Committee through the church office. Return to the top of this page.
