music

The music program at First Presbyterian is coordinated by Dr. Beth Naegele. She has a PhD in organ performance from Northwestern University and is Professor of Music at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.

New vocalists and instrumentalists are are always welcome to join any of these groups. Watch the church bulletin or our calendar for specific rehearsal dates and times, and contact Beth Naegele for more detailed information.

Junior Choir is for children in grades 1-5 who enjoy praising the Lord in song. Rehearsals: Sundays at 11:55 am (at the beginning of Sunday School).

Praise Ringers has become the entry level introduction to bell play for our youth, grades 5 and up. Our first bell choir was established over 30 years ago, and became the training ground for a whole generation of artists in our church. We recognize the importance of providing pressure-free instruction to our children in an environment conducive to learning the skill of bell play. As we offer more frequent rehearsal and performance dates, this group gains confidence and improves as they play to the glory of God. Rehearsals: generally Sundays, between worship and Sunday School.

Impromptu Bell Choir is for adults and teens with advanced music skills. Child care is provided during rehearsals. Rehearsals: every other Wednesday, 6:30 pm.

Beautiful Bellas is a new ensemble bell choir featuring ladies of varied levels of playing experience. Their rehearsals are publicized on the church calendar and generally occur at least monthly. Performances take place during worship several times per year.

Westminster Choir is for high schoolers and adults. This choir participates weekly in worship from September through the end of May. The choir performs a wide variety of traditional and contemporary sacred music. Jeff Delay is the director. Child care is provided during choir practice. Rehearsals: Thursdays, 7:30-9:00 p.m.

First Presbyterian Philharmonic has served our congregation for over ten years, attracting instrumentalists of all ages and skill levels. The directors are David Eikenberry and Beth Naegele. The Philharmonic performs on special occasions, such as the annual Advent Preparation workshop, Christmas Holiday Event, and Easter. Rehearsals: usually every other Sunday, 12:00-12:30 p.m.
