Angel Tree

Sponsored by Prison Fellowship, Angel Tree is a program that provides gifts and the Gospel message for children of prisoners who are incarcerated in Lake County.  During the Advent season, a Christmas tree is placed in the church and cards with information about children that can be sponsored are hung from its branches.  You may want to select a card and follow the gifting guidelines to give that child a happier Christmas morning.

The Deacons also provide Christmas stockings filled with treats, small toys, and Bible material.  Typically, the families receiving the gifts are invited to a festive party at the church.  This year, however, the gifts will be mailed with accompanying gift cards and the Gospel message.

For more information about Angel Tree and Prison Fellowship, visit their website.

The Gideons International

The Gideons International has its roots as an association of Christian businessmen placing Bibles in hotel rooms.  Founded in 1899, its mission has evolved into providing Scriptures to all people across the globe.  The Gideons are an advocate for the lost to bring them the saving knowledge of the Word through evangelism, Scripture distribution, and personal witnessing at various events in Chicagoland.

For more information about The Gideons, visit their website.

Love INC of Lake County

Love INC of Lake County aims to help transform lives and communities in the Name of Christ.  Volunteers work with disadvantaged individuals who are motivated to rebuild their lives through education and the Gospel.  First Presbyterian Church supports Love INC by facilitating an annual coat distribution, assisting with furniture delivery, and hosting life skills classes.  Scheduled to resume soon, these classes take place on Wednesday evenings and are preceded by dinner.

For more information, call 847-782-8630 or visit the Love INC of Lake County website.

Mosaic Ministries

First Presbyterian Church of Waukegan is a member of a group of churches in northern Lake County, Illinois whose mission is to reach out to young adults in our communities.  First Presbyterian's Mosaic Team meets regularly with the Mosaic group for worship, prayer, and community learning gatherings.  We have used this initiative to provide meals to students and staff from the College of Lake County's Waukegan Campus and to support and encourage young adult leaders within our congregation.

If you are interested in knowing more and being involved in Mosaic's local initiative, please contact Glenn Eikenberry at geikenberry@gmail.com.

We are blessed to have many musically talented people in our church participating in the Westminster Choir, Praise Band, Impromptu Bells, and Philharmonic.  In addition, Joyful Noise is a fun program for the children which includes making music with “boomwhackers.”

The Westminster Choir rehearses every Thursday night and the Philharmonic every other Sunday.  The Praise Band, Impromptu Bells and Joyful Noise rehearse and perform regularly as well.

Anyone interested is participating in our music program is very welcome – please contact Director of Music, Beth Naegele, for details.
